Did you ever consider buying an American Girl for your daughter and decided against it because of the price? We went through the same thing here, but we gave in and are glad we did.

Her American Girl dolls went from a plaything to a very good educational tool without her knowing it.

There is a strong American Girl following on youtube and she is right in there. She is now doing stop motion videos, photo shoots videos and is working on a seven part mini series. She is writing the scripts, filming, editing, adding voiceover and has even added background music to one of the videos. She is now creating some of her own outfits for the dolls to use in the videos.

Was the price of the American dolls worth it, it sure was!!!!!

Here is a link to one of her videos.

If you know someone with American Girl dolls, pass on the link. It may broaden their horizons.

Nice to see your daughter is learning from it. I had one when I was a kid, I remember being required to read all the books first. Of course, there was only three girls back then. They were a good early introduction to american history. I had kind of soured on the whole American Girl thing since it seems so out of control now, but this is a pleasant surprise.

When my daughter wanted one, they were $80.00. It was the one and only time that I said we would pay for half if she paid for half. We ordered it. When she got it, she looked it all over and decided it wasn't worth it so we sent it back. I was really pleased with her decision as it seemed kind of cheap. This was about 15 years ago.

It was one thing to shell out 100 bucks when they were made in america by a small company. But now they are made by mattel, in China. It is a rip off.

I think the AG books/stories are great & I enjoy reading them with my daughter. I DO have issues though with the dolls and the accessories. The prices of them that is.
Many of the stories talk about the challenges families, people faced during the Depression era, a father loosing his job,etc.. But yet, their dolls are over $100 and their accessories are ridiculous. My daughter does have 2 of the dolls, one a gift from grandma and the other we did buy as a combo gift for her, but she does not play with it enough for me to say the amount spent was worth it.
She seems more interested in the accessories than the actual doll , the latest being the new volkswagon Beetle for Julie & Ivy..
( she will not be getting it...) it is over $300!!!
$300 for an accessory for a doll is just ridiculous and today, when many people are struggling to find jobs,
Put food on their table or even keep their homes, maybe AG should consider adjusting their prices so all girls
Can enjoy their products.....
