But openDNS is free. Not sure what you downloaded.
And at lest on my home network, my kids aren't allowed to DL anything unless I OK it first. That helps.
ETA ... Though UltraSurf can work from a flash drive....

The goal is to help kids know what is acceptable and not and let them make their own choices when they are given the choice. I doubt many of us are naive enough to believe that kids won't do things we don't approve. I certainly did things my parents did not approve of, many things they never found out about. With me, the most pressing issue right now is them using the computer when they should be doing chores, homework or are on restriction due to grades or some other reason. We set up a password to replace the one they figured out themselves. We then downloaded K9 parental controls if for nothing else to hold us over until we purchase better software, if we can find any. These are both short term solutions.

We have had talks with the kids about porn, bullying, school shootings, sex, drinking, smoking and will keep doing so for years to come.
