Man receives Father’s Day letter 20 years after his son’s death

An 89-year-old Virginia man named Duane Schrock was the lucky recipient of a letter that has bounced around in the mail for nearly 30 years.

The “unbelievable” letter was mailed from his son and namesake back in 1989 – six years before AIDS took his life in 1995, WPXI reports.

*********

The card, seemingly from beyond the grave, is extra special to Schrock because of the two’s “tumultuous relationship.”

Schrock disapproved of his son’s sexuality when he was alive, but as ABC reports, "this letter is like a sign from heaven that his son’s doing just fine."
Reminds me of the lyrics of the song '39, by a coincidentally gay rock group, Queen "don't you hear my call though you're many years away, don't you hear me calling you...." Though the song was actually about space travel, it's still evocative.

I agree. My math is that Father's Day 2015 is 26 years after Father's Day 1989. Your math?

And by the way I spent Father's Day 1989 at Mamroneck Beach Club with my stepfather of (then ) 15 years. I enjoyed nearly 40 blessed years with him before he died (if you count 39 years and a bit more than 6 months "nearly 40 years").
