If a dad has his daugher at the shopping centre and the wee girl has to go, he would ask another mother or woman whos going in to the ladies to escort the child.. none of this nonsense, Ive never heard the likes of it...

The woman was way OUT OF LINE in taking her son into the men's room. She should have taken him to the ladies room with her.
Perhaps the ladies room was out of order or locked for cleaning.
A 2 year old shouldn't go ANYWHERE by themselves!!!! Has nothing to do with if their potty trained or not. A 2 yr old should not be unaccompanied.
Anyway, the mother should have brought the child in the women's washroom with her OR many places not have "family" washrooms.
I certainly agree! Two year old who have been potty trained just means they can properly do their thing at home. That doesn't even include being able to wipe by themselves properly. Certainly, no parent should allow 2 yr old unaccompanied anywhere!
Depending if he wanted to pee or poop, and if the restroom was familiar to us, then my son could go by himself to pee starting around 4 or 5, and to poop by himself around 6 or 7. My son stopped going to the ladies' room around 5. However, if we are in a totally new place such as when traveling, then I, his father, will still accompany him until he is around 9. I understand that some families might not have the choice though, of having the same-sex parent be present when their child goes to unfamiliar places. It's not helicopter parenting or being paranoid. From experience, there are many situations a child cannot figure out or solve by themselves in an unfamiliar environment. For public restrooms we haven't to before, the most common problems are no toilet paper, broken flush or too filthy to use. Try sending your 2 year old toddlers by themselves to a public restroom and he might not only dirty himself with his own poop but other people's also. Yuck!

I would not take care of a stranger's child in a public restroom. That is something for the parents to do.
It's been my experience that moms of really young boys typically take them into the ladies room with them. I can't imagine, as a mom, walking into the men's room.

nor can I , a three year old is far too young and should be with his mum in the ladies.. the mother should know better.. it makes me wonder about the sanity of some people.

Best thing ever, and this was just starting in my area as my kid was becoming old enough to go into the restroom on her own, family restrooms. A private bathroom, a little larger. Mom can take her little crew all together...not to sound sexist but it is usually a mom with her kids. They've been popping up all over the place, especially in malls, for the last 15 or so years.
Women don't belong in the men's room. Men don't belong in the women's room. And I don't care who or what they drag in there with them to make it appear acceptable.
