LOL what?! I would NEVER let a stranger take my daughter out of my sight into a public restroom. Not in a million years.
Perhaps the ladies room was out of order or locked for cleaning.
If so then all she has to do is knock and let the people inside the restroom know that she needs to bring her son in and help him use the bathroom. Give them a heads up so they are not caught completely off guard.
Seems like if your sense of modesty and privacy is so important to you, then you should be using the stalls and not "exposing" yourself out in the open at a urinal.

If men's rooms were like ladies' rooms, with nothing but enclosed stalls and no such things as urinals, I doubt this thread would have lasted more than a page at most. But the reality is, men expose themselves in front of urinals to do their business, and some of them prefer to do so without having unknown women in a position to observe them. I honestly don't know why this is such a hard concept for some people to understand.

But if it were indeed the case that the mother had no choice but to take her young son into the men's room, I think most if not all of the posters on this thread would have understood it to be something that was necessary under the circumstances, and thus would have tolerated it quietly, regardless of their feelings. Indeed, in a situation like that, I would rather myself suffer some embarrassment (due to having a woman next to me in the bathroom) than have a young child sent in without parental supervision, or kept outside and soil himself. But I suspect that the comments being generated here are based on the assumption that the woman could have used the ladies' room, but for whatever reason chose not to.

I know adults who don't use public restrooms. They think they're gross and unsanitary, and don't want to use a restroom with a bunch of strangers. They get along just fine in life not using public restrooms. I think we all have things we would not do in public, and for some people that is one of them. I don't see any problem with that.
If she wants to do that when she's 18, then she can. With her still the age of a child and under her parent's authority, she doesn't have that right. Case closed. (But again, she doesn't care anymore anyway.)
I can't believe this thread is still going. Do people really care that much where someone uses the bathroom? If the ladies room down I myself have used the mens room if no ones there. I have seen multiple moms including myself take their sons to the mens room when the line is really long.
If you get mad a parent trying to take their child to the bathroom you must be one of those people who verbally assault trans people when they use the bathroom. There are no bathroom police.
Many places do not have a family restroom where I live. However, I have we are starting to get gender neutral bathrooms.But its very few. I notice that more in the suburbs. The mens room is cleaner than the ladies room 80% of the time. She could of said excuse me so he wasn't surprised but I really not getting the issue.
There is no reason to give your child to a stranger to take to the bathroom.

Totally different. There WERE men in there (the OP's husband, using the urinal). Just because you're comfortable with doing something yourself doesn't give you the right to cross other people's boundaries. Also, NO REASON has been given why she couldn't have taken her three year-old into the women's room. Ladies' restrooms all have stalls so the problem of seeing others or being seen is eliminated. Just because you're a parent doesn't mean you get a pass to impose on others. If a grown man had a young daughter who needed to change into a swimsuit, does that give him the right to enter a female locker room at a public pool or spa where female adults and children are in their underwear and in many cases totally nude?
I wonder if the man at the urinal would get charged with public exposure if he should happen to back up a bit, and start trying to hit the urinal from there? I mean, you know, like writing in the snow? Would momma bear be shocked? After all, if you can't hang your penis out in the men's washroom, where can you do that?

If the mother does this often enough, one of these days she's going to run into the type of man who enjoys being watched. I wonder what her reaction will be then when some guy starts masturbating in front of her and asking if she wants to put her mouth or hand on it.
I wish that I had few enough problems in my life that I could afford myself the luxury of actually giving a sh*t about what bathrooms people use, but alas that is not the case.
Since when is having boundaries and a need for privacy a luxury? Did you grow up in a third world hovel where people use the middle of the street or a nearby stream as a toilet?
