Agree, the agent should know; especially these days with so many stories in the media.

As for the name, I would have asked how it's pronounced and I can't believe it's actually a name.

A last name in my family can be made fun of. I asked my second cousin if she had problems growing up with that last name. She said at first. Then she got thick skin and then learned to not take so seriously, even played into the jokes. She is hilarious btw. Also told me about some of the t-shirts worn at family reunion, I'm a Dick. Yes, her last name is Dick. Use your imagination.
Went to school with a kid named Richard Upright...Dick Upright...thankfully he could go by Rich...

There was this female that was in the military with me that the day she turned 18 went to court to change her name that her parents gave her. Her name is pronounced Ah-Show-Lee but it is spelled ( I don't know if this word is allowed on this site so I will Hyphenate it): A-S-S-H-O-L-E. She told me her life was total hell going thru school.

The funniest comment I read about this was on some other board, maybe Yahoo's news page. Someone wrote:

"Her brother HIJK, pronounced Hi-Jack is not allowed to fly at all."

Did she change her name entirely or just the spelling?

Ha, I probably worked with that first Abcde in Kona. That's about the right age, and my coworker had that name (and went by "Abby" or "Abs"). And a little googling just popped up her name (the person I worked with) in all sorts of articles. Looks like people are seeking out all the Abcde's they can find.

No one believes me when I say I worked with an Abcde. That agent was a fool. If you think it's a stupid name, sure, laugh about it. In your head. Privately.

Well, at least they didn't name the kid "Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116".
