Unfortunately our kids are too worshipping stars on the red carpet and actually believe they can dress that way in real life. Sad people are that unrealistic.
I agree. It is sad. I believe her obnoxious behavior could be because she was humiliated because she problably thought she looked great. Being young and finding out she was inappropriatly dressed caused her to act even more inappropriate.
I think like Lindsey said they are too worshipping of the stars. I now and then catch glimpses of fashion shows by popular designers and some of the trashy flilmsy/slutty stuff I see the models wear I never EVER once saw anyone wear in public. Maybe this girl thought she was sporting the newest trend.
I really do feel sorry for her but I do agree that the school should not have let her in.
OMG! How completely trashy looking. What happened to frou-frou prom dresses that were formal and beautiful? Why do all the girls have to go looking like a ho on the corner with dresses cut to here and there? I'm glad she wasn't allowed in and I'm glad she got handcuffed and escorted away. She is NOT a victim and should not be treated as such. The guidelines were handed out apparently and she didn't follow them. Too bad.
I work at the YMCA and on Friday night we had Youth Night for 5th & 6th graders. They can dance in the DJ room, shoot hoops, play in the gymnastics room, and swim.
Well I was chaperoning the DJ room and a 5TH grader had on a spaghetti-strap halter-top on! And fifth and sixth graders slow-dancing w/ the opposite gender. Gosh, where has time gone?
When I was in 5th grade I was afraid of cooties!
I do agree that her dress was completely inappropriate. But in response to the last post, I wore spagetti straps all the time in the 70s and 80s. Not sure what is wrong with that?

LOL....what's a 5th grader holding up under that halter top? Kleenex? My oldest is in the 4th grade and recently got her first training bra....I asked my wife what she's supposed to be training.
I'm glad they cuffed that girl. That was a serious fashion faux-pas. I'm sure her momma was proud. She was probably yelling it from her street corner wearing the same outfit. Some thigh high patent leather boots and fishnet stockings couldn't have hurt though.

I've got a 13yo and I tell ya....... the stuff some girls wear. YIKES! But this girls dress is over the top and takes the prize. "Custom Made"...... yeah right. I can make a "custom made" dress out of a bedsheet too. We just called them toga's. I was wondering where the mama was in this story. Obviously just as fashion challenged as her daughter. I was gonna say she used the pages from her English book but she could not have possibly used that many pages in making the dress OR reading it.
Yep, she thinks she was arrested because of the dress. No honey, you were handcuffed because of your ATTITUDE and ACTIONS! The dress had NOTHING to do with it. You act like that in public and start to cause a scene in a public place and they have the right to call the police and have you escorted out. The best line was when she said they gave her no choice it was either jail or home. GO HOME THEN!!! If you don't want to go to jail then GO HOME! They GAVE YOU A CHOICE! She just had badjudgement all the way around.
when Prom is approaching... we get a letter from the school with the basic dress code, and what will not be allowed ... and if any child is dressed inappropriately -- they will not be allowed in. So, they know a head of time that they will not be able to get away with something like that.
I have my 15-year old (almost 16) daughter right beside me and she just saw this video and laughed saying she looked like a hooker and wondered what would ever make her think that wearing something like that to Prom would even be okay. She added, that if she ever even thought about trying to wear something like that her momma would kick her hiney.
Coming from a 15 year old..... and I quote "That cannot even be considered a dress, it is more like underwear... if that".
I would have to agree with her. She is going to prom for the first time this year with her brother who is graduating and some friends of his. She is wearing a very nice white and gold dress that in her words... and in my opinion.... cover's everything. You can look pretty and dressed up and don't need to look so sleezy.
OH MY!! I thought I'd seen it all till this one. I've seen other news stories about the "too revealing" prom dresses but this one wins the Grand Prize. NO WAY IN HADES would my child be stepping out wearing a dress like this to ANYWHERE! HORAY for the school for standing up and not allowing her in.
