Hi -
Thought I'd put this here since it could be a parenting question with kids' camp clothes, etc., but I am marking items for my mother who is in a skilled nursing facility.

If you don't have a white label to write on...and the item is black -- (a big fleecy shawl, and another large-stich crocheted one ) -- what do you suggest? I'm not a sewer or craftsy -- is there some stick-on label I can get -- and what kind of store? Even though I have a sign saying I will do her laundry, some of her items are winding up in the general laundry, so I must have everything identified.

MANY THANKS!

When I was a kid, the clothing labels my mom had for us were iron on. I don't know where to find them but maybe a google search can yield someone that sells them.

I use a silver sharpie or a paint pen for most dark things, but I am not sure if it would work for you on a shawl.

You can get a kit of iron on labels with a marker at Walmart for about $3.00. That's what we have used for camp clothes. Darn things stick on forever.
