If Pennsylvania could build a Great Wall to block off a neighbor state which one would you choose?

Ohio is horrible because the law enforcement in the corrupt-run-down border towns automatically target Pennsylvanians.

New Jersey is also bad because the people moaning about high taxes move to Pennsylvania who in turn vote for socialists who wind up raising taxes.

New Jersey because it's mainly dumpy and they're moving here which will in turn drive up our prices.

Hmmm. Target. Corrupt. Yeah, that reminds me of when Pennsylvania was pokey to raise its speed limit back up to 65 mph, when all the surrounding states already had.

PennDOT -- on I-90, at least -- had placed the big ol' "The speed limit in Pennsylvania is STILL 55 mph" signs (complete with the silhouette of a stern-looking state cop pointing a radar gun) at least a mile inside the Pennsylvania side of the border. The state cops would sit between the state line and the sign, picking off Ohio drivers as they crossed into Pennsylvania.

I think that I would build the wall around the entire state! Almost everybody dumps their garbage on PA. I think that Virginia is the second largest importer of garbage? Perhaps they could take over and become number one!

I would like to see every state deal with their own garbage problems and not force it on other states. It would cut down on garbage truck accidents and force everybody to think green. On the other hand; they might just dump more in the ocean!

Definitely NJ. They can keep the bad driving habits: tail gating at 75 mph, talking on cell phone while tailgating at 75 mph, putting on makeup while tailgating at 75 mph, traffic lights, stop sighs, stop for pedestrian in marked crossings only a suggestion, whole families stopping on the side of limited-access highways to urinate -- I guess their idea of common decency is they face away from traffic to do this.

I agree with their poor driving habits. I see alot of cars with NJ tags flying in and out of traffic as far west as the Ohio border. I guess they feel they can get away with it in PA, since NJ has some of the tougher laws in the country.

I would never build a wall between PA and Ohio; some of the best people I've known are Buckeyes.

I live in Monroe County; pressed up against NJ. Years ago I would have agreed with you about NJ drivers - until I worked over there.

Drivers become accustomed to their environments. Yes; there are poor drivers no matter where you go. However, after you work in NJ for some time; you can spot out of state PA drivers a mile away. I think that many of the problems are just becoming accustomed to the roads and laws or behavior of the adjacent states.

NJ drivers are accustomed to six or more lanes. The right lane is the slower lane used to enter and exit the highway. Most travel in the middle lane. They are also very good at using all lanes when they are in a hurry. PA drivers stay in the slow lane - but; we have more four lane roads than six or more lane roads. Traffic and especially traffic that zigzags scares most PA drivers. All we know is that we are supposed to stay right.

NJ drivers only do a rolling stop (if that is what you want to call it) at our stop signs. That does cost many NJ drivers steep PA fines.

It is very hard to tell Philadelphia drivers from NJ drivers because they drive under similar conditions.

When I was driving truck; I always admired Ohio road construction crews. They seem to have a plan and they are traffic friendly. They also work very hard compared to many other states. I would personally rate their DOT at the top of the ladder. I did hate the separate speed limits for cars and trucks.

It's also called a "Jersey Stop".

Are you kidding me?!

I drive into Pennsylvania and some of the most depressing towns I have seen were in Western and Central PA. They were run-down, abandoned and seemed like ghost towns. They made parts of Detroit look nice.

And don't even start about Ohio law enforcement. PA troopers and officers will sit there and hide and get you. I have seen it many times. Ohio's troopers are suppose to be in plain sight. They are not allowed to hide. The Ohio Turnpike is much better than PA's, and our roads seem to be in better shape.

And when I am down in the Youngstown metro area I am always seeing PA license plates in Boardman and Niles where there is a lot more shopping and dining options than right across the border. Right across the border you have Sharon, New Castle, and some of those nasty river towns.

Don't downgrade Ohio because you got pulled over or something around the fact.
