The only thing wrong with PA is we don't get enough winter. Makes me want to move to Maine.

PAblackbear, I love a person who stands up for their convictions!! Considering the amount of snow that has fallen, and is scheduled to fall, according to my PA-connection, it must look a little like Maine by now.
LOL--thanks for the smile!

It is feeling like Maine this winter. A welcome change too. Hope it doesn't revert back next winter.

Is PA depressing? Well if you live in the greater Pittsburgh area I wouldn't call it inspiring. The weather is atrocious or simply put brutal. And to make matters worse the transit system is on par with the horse and buggy era. Having lived and travelled extensivley I would rate it near the bottom. The only saving grace are the people. They are salt of the earth and a real joy to be around. But at the end of the day, if given the choice. Florida is my pick.

We're still in the Horse and Buggy era here.

People need to say what area of PA that they're referring to. I've been all over the state and I've found that if you drive a few hours in any direction it's like going to a whole different country. I grew up in the SE corner. The people there are snobby and rude and everything is very overpriced. And I've been to the NE corner, it's all mountains and the people are nice. I've only driven through central PA, but it just looks like all woods. And western PA is supposed to be very industrialized and dirty, but that's just what I've heard.
I lived in Portland, Maine in 2009 and now I'm in Seattle, Wa. Out of the 3 states, I'd have to pick Maine.

It used to be industrialized. It no longer is.

I disagree with the word "brutal". Pittsburgh doesn't get that much snow and it really isn't too terribly cold. The months of gray do suck though. If we just had maybe fifty more days of sunshine it would make a vast improvement.

I don't put much stock in the "sunny days" tally because a day could start off sunny with increasing cloudiness in the afternoon, or start off cloudy/rainy in the morning and have the sun break out in the afternoon, and both kinds of days would be labeled "overcast" simply because there was total cloud cover at some point during the day.

With that said, it is pretty cloudy in Pittsburgh between Thanksgiving and Easter. May through September makes up for it, though.
