Howz the real estate market? Is it starting to slow down and reverse some of the gains made the last few years yet?

We are interested in renting a house there starting the middle of Nov and thru Jan 15th. Yes, believe it or not.

If you can help, please PM me.

We are possibly interested in buying a second house there when the market starts correcting itself.

Least that's one of the plans

well i work for centruy 21 outside the philly area, and the market has definately turned into a buyers market. Prices have held or in some small cases backed up slightly but only in the very high end markets. Anything under 400,000 is still holding. Finding a house to rent for on 3-4 months will be quite difficult. [cut]

I have lived in The Hideout for 13 years. If you are interested in a short term rental, I would suggest advertising in The Hideout's own monthly newspaper, The Hideabout. I know some people with vacation homes who are reluctant to go with a real estate, they want to be a little more in control of the rental of their home. House prices are holding right now, I don't think they are rising like they have in the last 2 years. I have a nice ranch with a 2 car garage, 2 yrs old for sale. If you are interested, I'll send you the real estate link with more info. and pictures.

Moderator cut: personal

Mr/Mrs I love PA, I have said I'm interested but I also said I'm looking for a deal. I also said that Hideout is very overpriced at this point.

Sorry, I never heard the 'deal' part or that you thought The Hideout was overpriced. I have listed with a real estate, and since my home is only 2 years old, and I don't have money to throw away, I have actually listed my home for it's market value. I'm not interested in giving anyone a 'deal' and I'm not giving a brand new home away. The Hideout is high priced, over priced you may say, but that is what people are paying for houses. LOTS of people. So, I'm going with the flow. I'm looking to make a deal for ME.

I feel that if the area is nice and it's in demand you should get close to what you are asking for. Give it a shot. The NEPA area has alot to offer and the home prices are more affordable then let's say New Jersey or New York.
Good luck with home sale.

The Hideout is located near Routes 191 and 590 in Lake Ariel, Wayne County, about fifteen minutes away from both Honesdale, the county seat, and Lake Wallenpaupack, in the northeastern corner of PA. It's about a half-hour or so to Scranton, which is the region's cultural and shopping hub.
