What is the East Hill neighborhood like in Pensacola? We like "in-town" neighborhoods. My husband would actually like downtown living, but I like a yard. Does anyone know what the neighbors are like in East Hill (demographics, etc)? Any other suggestions? We are looking for safe, friendly places.

East Hill is one of the better neighborhoods in city. Safe is relative. Where are you moving from? Street to street can be spotty regardless of where you choose to live, but you will be safer on the east side of town.

mamainfl, I lived in East Hill on 16th & Hernandez St and I loved it. The neighborhood parks are great and you can go down to Bayview Park and bbq and enjoy the bayou, at least I did when I lived there. Anything on the east side of 12th avenue is safer in my opinion.

East Hill is a great area! We've done some work over there. Most properties are well kept and the people are always friendly to us. I agree with the others. The east side of Pensacola is better in many respects.

Interesting business name (Pelican Exterior Cleaning), are there a lot of dirty pelicans in Pensacola?

East Hill is a lower middle class neighborhood that is regentrifying it is full of trendies and pretencious people that think it is so much better than the rest of Pensacola...there is a huge ghetto in it on the other side of 9th and a housing project right in the middle of it just north of Jordan St...I used to live there it is beautiful if you drive down 17th but the ghetto can go to 17th in certain parts of it

I think Sanders Beach is much nicer

So where is the housing project you are talking about exactly? Can you give me the streets or blocks that it encompasses? I was not aware of a housing project in East Hill. Do you know anything about North Hill? I like the older homes that I see pictured in each area. Thanks!

mamainfl, around 9th Ave and to the west of it is what American1976 was referring to.

When 17th Ave crosses 12th Ave is where it can turn ghetto especially when you get to 9th Ave and beyond.

17th Ave doesn't cross 12th Avenue, but you're right, once you get west of 9th you are in ghetto. Live as close to Bayou Texar if you want East Hill.

The housing project is from Scott St down three blocks it is like 4 block north or Jordan St ?North Hill is very nice and also close to a ghetto but I would say it is middle middle class and upper middle class the housing projects are like 6 blocks west of north hill but north hill seems much better to me... also you might like the area south of Main St it is not as nice as north hill but the ghetto is farthest from there...
