has anyone been successful at opening a jpm/chase private client account and getting them to waive the first year fee on the card ? with some brokerages offering 600 bucks to open accounts i was going to take a shot at getting them to waive the fee the first year .

just curious if anyone was successful doing this ?

They didn't even want to give me the card, let alone waive the fee.

it is a card with top notch perks and if you travel it is easy to make back the 450.00 a year fee

you get 50,000 points redeemable for 750.00 in travel benefits from chases rewards center for signing up , 300 a year in statement credits to pay travel expenses , 3x the points for restaurants and travel expenses, they pay the fee for tsba pre-check and airport lounge entry.

the original offer was 100,000 points for signing up but the card is so hot they reduced it to 50,000 . but it is still 1500.00 in value for a 450 fee.

the points get a 50% boost too when you use them for trips booked through chase rewards .

and that my friend is why people are trying so hard to get to pay this fee and get the card . but many get denied as the qualifications are stiff .

chase had such demand that they ran out of metal blanks that they use to stamp the cards with . they could not issue cards for weeks until a new supply got to them .

I thought the limit was for all cards, not just from Chase. I don't know the answer to your question. If it is a good deal, just pay the fee. I have heard of people hoping for a better chance of being approved for the sapphire reserve by having a private client account. Didn't seem to help.

I have a Chase Sapphire card and do not pay any fees. I got it years ago. You must be talking about a different deal with Chase. I get points which I cash in for cash. But I've never paid a fee.

there are a few different versions . the best one the sapphire reserve always has a fee .

the lower end card , sapphire preferred has been known to waive it or give a 60 dollar statement credit but they are very different cards and you can't compare the perks .

you don't have a free sapphire reserve , perhaps the preferred but not the reserve card

i would pay the fee , but i will take a shot at trying to get it waived for year 1 since brokerages are offering up to 600 bucks to transfer the amount of money you need for a private client account .
