She's going to school very cheap and her parents are paying for most of it

So will have no student loans, thank god

She's already working at a hospital. Should be easy to get a nursing job

Good luck, Rg

That's everything included in that number

Just 401k and cash, I have around 200K. Is that a very strong number for a 32 year old? I hear these stories of people becoming millionaires at 35 so I feel like I'm far behind

That's because you are comparing yourself to people who are (way) above the norm. No problem with that, it motivates you, but don't get caught up in keeping up with the Joneses, most people live beyond their means.

Sounds like you are both set. Now that you quit gambling there's no problem. That problem is in the past. You have your cars, the engagement ring, and a house. Just save what you gambled away in the past and it's all good. At this rate you should be able to retire comfortably. If you have kids you can still do it on your own for the years your wife won't be working. I did it on far less money than you are making, and my wife stopped working for 15 years while raising 3 kids.

Bobs right, as long as the new wife doesn't "need" a bigger house in the near future!

You have net $700k over the past 7 years, live in NYC and have $400k? Not that bad, could be much worse. Given your personality I would hire someone to manage your investments, for someone who likes to gamble investing in stocks probably won't end well.

Calculator online says I'm in top 7% for my age

I can't believe the median household net worth is only 112K. Are most people that incompetent with money?

Yes, they are, but don't get too comfortable, life has a way of throwing curve-balls at you. I used to be the guy who always had to be the top performer in any group. It's a curse, and caused me problems.

I don't feel like I've done that great

I suppose it's just that most people are horrible with their finances
