Why? My wife was 17 when we started dating. I also feel like a huge number of people in these states aren’t aware the age of consent throughout not just most of the world but the vast majority of the US is 16 or 17. Just 12 out of 50 states have an age of consent at 18, so it’s so few states that the rest of the states if they so desired could pass a constitutional amendment making 17 the federal law without any input or say so from the 12 state minority whatsoever. Yet every movie you see there are these “hardy har” jokes about her being 18 even when the show is set in Hawaii, where the age of consent is 16.
