I still can't understand how somebody could give away a pet just because it is old or ill but there are some truly wonderful volunteers who take in these animals to make sure they get the best they deserve for the time they have left.

Very sad. I don't understand either. Hope this "fospice" care idea spreads; thank you for making us more aware

How sad that people would get rid of their pets when the pets need them most - their old age.

I know exactly how you feel. Yesterday, unfortunately, I had to have my dear cat, my lovely companion of fifteen years, euthanized. Many things were going wrong and she began to rapidly deteriorate this past weekend.

Although I am very sad, and seeing a life so vital at one time so quickly cease to be, I still wouldn't change anything, even being at the end and knowing I had to let her rest and be free from her suffering. She went very peacefully at the loveliest clinic with such caring people. (One of the techs. was tearing up when she saw how much my sweet Starbug meant to me.)

Even with a brokenheart, I wouldn't want to have lost a single moment with her.

I got my dog from a rescue and became close friends with the lady who runs the rescue in my area. They are always getting dogs who are old and sick because their owners don't want to deal with them anymore. I can't even imagine how anyone could do that.
