Every time I hear the phrase "getting rid of the dog" or "have to get rid of the cat" I just want to punch somebody.
The phrase "getting rid of" should be used to refer to a pair of old shoes, not a loving, loyal pet.
I work in the medical field and just a few days ago one of my patients casually remarked that he didn't know why people took dogs to the vet. He said, "I mean, come on, it's a DOG! If it gets sick you just get another one!
I had to leave the room for a few minutes so I didn't yell at him and end up losing my job.
And if I had a dollar for every time I heard a patient tell me they had to "get rid of" a dog or cat because they were allergic I would have enough money to open an animal shelter.
My kids always said it was a good thing they weren't allergic to dogs because I would have kept the dogs and gotten rid of them!
I absoloutly agree with you . I talked to a lady the other day about getting a cat from her and she was like well I dont want to wait a week this cat has got to go now . My partner is allergic !!! yeah well did your partner just become allergic ? I would never ever give up an animal because of a partner . that partner knew you had animals before you got with them and now they want you to get rid of it like an old pair of shoes ? , sorry nope the partner would go before the cat . end of story for me . I did not get married a couple of times because the guy did not like the fact that I had dogs and birds at one time all since passed . I passed on them instead . If you dont like animals dont come to my house and move my dog off my couch this is their house too . Nothing will make me madder than someone trying to tell me what to do with my animals .
Even if I am allergic to my pets, I would never get rid of them.
Even should I die... my pets will have my survivors to rely on... I'll make sure they will be well taken care of (Plan B).
I AM allergic to cats but used to have 4 of them, all of whom slept on my bed. I told the doctor I would just have to learn to live with it. Luckily, not very allergic, just a little.
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
As I make clear to all men, "the cat is permanent, you are not".
My former husband didn't like my dog, but this didn't become apparent until after we were married. Then one day I came home from work and he had put my three indoor cats outside, having decided that they should live outside. When I found them they were cowering by the back door, terrified of being outside.
Kept the pets, got rid of the husband.
