Always an interesting read.
"In 2017, for the first time on record, The Census Bureau reported that more residential units in Philadelphia were occupied by renters then homeowners."

Interesting.

Also interesting, and kind of sad that we have a relatively low level of public transit usage.

Well this isn't surprising at all. We simply don't have the amount of jobs in our city that other major cities have, forcing many Philadelphians to drive to the suburbs. I've lived in Philly for 20 years and I only worked in the city for one year at the very beginning of my career. Hopefully the city job market will improve and this trend will start to turn.

Important to note that this is a national trend due to ride sharing, increased car ownership and other factors.

Yep, the need for many Philadelphians to reverse commute, which SEPTA was really never designed for, is a huge factor.

It's also important to keep in mind though, that cities such as Boston and DC are much smaller than Philadelphia by land area, so they're going to more comprised of urban core-type neighborhoods overall than Philly (for example there's no equivalent of fairly auto-oriented Northeast Philly in Boston or DC proper).

Fun fact. That Wendy's has been there since the 80s. And back then, tons of homeless would "camp" out in front of Jeff across 11th St. Anyone remember when they "lived" right next to the kid prison which was where the Barnes is today? They were a fixture there for so long that portions of the exterior wall, fronting the Parkway, were stained from their presence.
