Thinking of coming back to the City that luv you back to start a restaurant. Miss the Eagles and my South Philly Neighbourhood, Olde City warms & charms. Havent been back here since 10 years ago where I went back to my native country following the sudden demise of mum.
How's the situation i.e. rental, workforce, law & regulations in Philly?

As an individual who likes to eat out a lot I have to say that to me Old City is not the same place it was even 10 years ago - The high end places have been overrun by many mediocre restaurants and I find more and more many foodies avoid the area especially on weekends as it has become more of drink fest. Many other areas seem to be attracting more and better resataurants these days

Which place to you have in mind? I inclined to go for "franchise" theme featuring selected chicken menu and healthy virgin fruity drinks. On the other hand, I might start a gourmet restaurant for a start as a base. Need to have a feel test market before embarking the former inclination theme.

A rowhouse near those areas should run you $1,300-1,700 in rent for a decent unit, decent location. A south Street storefront is probably available at the best terms you are ever going to see. Best of luck, the food scene here is definitely on the upswing.
