Hi. We're moving to Philadelphia in August for my husband's job at Temple - but don't want to live in the temple area. We're from Los Angeles, and have been in Charleston, SC for the last 2 years. We want to have that urban, walkable, safe, shady tree-lined street experience and are willing to pay a little more for it. I've been on Craigslist but any other suggestions for rental sites would be hugely appreciated. We'll be coming up in two weeks to check places out and hopefully sign a lease. Right now I'm thinking: Rittenhouse, Fitler, Graduate Hospital, Logan Sq, Washington Sq, Society Hill, or Old City, but other suggestions appreciated.

When are you moving? August
Where are you coming from? Charleston, SC (before that Los Angeles)
Why are you moving? Husband's job
Where will you be working? Temple
Have you been here yet? Yep

Will you buy or rent? Rent
If buying, are you looking for a house or a condo? How much can you spend?
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend? Up to $2500/month
Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up? I prefer the charm of a walk up, but some of the amenities of a high rise are tempting.

Are you married or single? Do you have children? Married no kids
Do you prefer public or private schools? N/A
Do you have pets? 1 cat
Do you want or need a yard? Not a need, would be nice to have a spot for a grill
Are you keeping a car? 1 car
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? Bustling city

What do you want to be closest to? Basics and restaurants.

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood? At least some young professionals would be nice, but I prefer some diversity. I'd rather not live in an all student neighborhood

Coke or Pepsi? Coke

Padmapper is also a good option.

IMO, none of them are a one-stop shop. You will have to keep looking across various sites. Try Lovely, Rent, Realtor besides what PaxListings mentioned. It's also a good idea to keep checking the Enquirer.

Look at Zillow or Trulia Rentals. They usually will have rentals that are available straight from the MLS used by Realtors. Also, try Hot Pads.
