Yep... couldn't have said it better myself. Where is your hotel? You can take the Paoli/Thorndale Line to Malvern and if the hotel isn't in walking distance, hop onto SEPTA bus 92 or 204.

So I've been looking at the SEPTA site and this thread but I'm still a little confused. I get that I'll just have to pay cash to go from the Airport to 30th Street station on the regional line but who do I pay? I thought I read somewhere that I just get on the train then pay. Also I'll be taking Amtrak to Lancaster, if anyone has experience with this route should I buy a ticket in advance or do you think I'll be able to just buy one when I get there? I don't wanna buy a ticket then have a delay getting to the Amtrak station and miss the train.

Regarding payment on train - A conductor will walk through the train cars and ask you where you're going, then collect your money and give you a receipt ticket.

Amtrak to Lancaster - personally, I would just buy the ticket in advance so as not to deal with the hassle of getting one at the station. Either way would work, it's up to your preference whether you'd rather get one at the station or ahead of time.

Amtrak is unreserved to lancaster so if you miss your train and catch the next one it's still good. there are ticket machines at Paoli if that's where you are boarding. also note that amtrak has eticketing so you can use your smart phone as your ticket if need be or print at home, whatever works better for you. there is an onboard surcharge here so best to buy in advance.
