There will be a major growth of Mexicans.. I do not see it declining anytime soon.
Immigration from mexico to the US is declining (thankfully), and has been so since the mid to late 2000s. What happened in California is largely due to the Mexican American community having a higher natural birth rate compared to the White American population. Which was eazy in California since they already were about 25-30% of the state population in 2010, and whites usually have about 1 child per household compared to 6 or 7 kids in a mexican household. So that was inevitable since whites have the lowest birth rates of all ethnic groups in the US and mexicans have the highest.

Fewer immigrants are entering the U.S. illegally, and that

What Mexican immigration problem? Column

While Puerto Rican migration to the mainland is at all-time highs since the 1940s/50s era, and has no sign of slowing down anytime soon. With the SoutheastPa/Philly area probably being the most popular destination outside Central Florida.

Since moving to the area (south Jersey) from down South, I've been rather...perplexed...at how some Latinos with obvious African ancestry don't consider themselves Black in addition to Latino. It's interesting for sure.

First, we have to distinguish between raw numbers and percentage. In terms of raw numbers, I see AA numbers remaining the same as many AA's are coming into the NE and thus keeping them in the city. Also, many AA's from Northern NJ and NYC are attracted to this area due to being close to home yet having far cheaper cost of living. There is an exodus to the suburbs, to be sure, but unfortunately the large part of Philly's AA population is too poor to make the leap out of the city except for the worst parts of Delco, which in that case what would be the point of moving?

In terms of percentages, I forsee the AA precentage increasing slightly while Hispanic and Asian increase rapidly. The White population is in freefall and for every gentrifier in CC there is 1.5 white middle class people leaving the NE.

Philly in 2020:

AA 46%
White 28%
Hispanic 18%
Asian 8%

Really.....how could the white population go from ~45% to 28% in less than 5 years. That didn't even happen during the rush to suburbs in the 50s. There is backup to state that the white population is in "freefall"

His percentages add up to 100, so he is excluding white-latinos from his "white" category. The non-hispanic white category was 36.9% in 2010, not 45%. I doubt it will drop to 28% by 2010, although it wouldn't surprise me if it decreases moderately.

Being raised Latino, is just a very different experience than being raised as an AA in the U.S.

I think its the same reason an Irish Catholic or Italian Catholic identifies themselves differently from a Baptist Southerner despite both having white skin.

Having the same skin color doesnt mean the two have the same background/culture, etc.

For the city, it maybe declining. Of course, that isn't different from every other major city around the country. For the metro area, Philadelphia's Black population is actually growing at a nice clip.

The vast majority of Irish Catholics and White Southern Baptists are checking the "white" box though, I'd imagine.

I do understand your point, but all Blacks aren't African American and the two terms aren't completely interchangeable. I suppose some think they are though.

Whats so good about the amount of Mexicans coming to the US declining. They have just as much of a right to be here as anyone else.

Now= yes....75 years ago=no

Chicago seems noticeably less Black than it was just 10-20 years ago (more Hispanics/Asians and even a little more White people with Polish and other White immigrants coming in large numbers).....DC and Philadelphia on the other hand aren't loosing any Black influence.....Probably because NYC is so expensive that many African Americans (NYC is loosing some African American population aswell) are leaving and going to the far cheaper, yet still close Philadelphia aswell....
