I'd like proximity to shops and places with good takeout, that isn't overrun by college students. Relocating form north Jersey suburbs and looking for more vibrant surroundings. Office is located in Bala Cynwyd. Thanks!

I can tell you where NOT to look ... University City. Because it is overrun by college students.

If nightlife or vibrancy in general is a priority then one of the Center City neighborhoods would be worth looking at.

Rittenhouse Square
Fitler Square
Spring Garden
Art Museum
Old City
Washington West
Society Hill
Graduate Hospital
Queen Village
Bella Vista

Keep in mind that if you choose to live in the city of Philadelphia you will pay a wage tax which is about 3.5%.

If you want to stay out in the suburbs the wage tax is not an issue and obviously will be quieter more family oriented, some towns close to Bala Cynwd are

Merion Station
Narberth
Ardmore
Bryn Mawr
Haverford
Wayne

Nah Manayunk skews younger, don't think OP would be into that.

For NW burbs, I'd look at Conshohocken. But if your $$ range is up to $2300 and don't really care for direct access to Bala Cynwyd, I'd definitely just go for a Center City neighborhood - pretty much any of the ones rainrock mentioned. Parking may be an issue but with that rent range you should definitely be able to get a paid spot if one is not included with your apartment.

So many neighborhoods in Philadelphia would match your description! I would reach out to a realtor and have them send you a detailed list of options.
