"Take away the can." That's what I had to do. We do have cans throughout the neighborhood that private citizens maintain.

Wouldn't it be great if all the homeless got paid to pick up trash around the city. I do it for free so surely some would do it for cash. Emphasis on some.

Back to your original concern about your feelings for the city...I hope the fact that some of us truly care about our communities and pick up after ignorant people helps restore some faith in Philadelphia!

I'd rather the welfare recipients do it.

Um, the overwhelming majority are already employed-albeit for starvation wages at nationless parasitic corporations.

Wal Mart and Mcdonalds are the two largest employers in the welfare system...

Um, I'm talking about the welfare recipients who do not work at all. There's plenty of them hanging around Philadelphia all day, every day.

Another person who drank the "welfare Queen" Kool aid. 99% of your tax money goes to military defense, interest on the debt, and social security. But you're worried about welfare. Do you think living on welfare is like striking the motherlode?

You read way too much into it ... I'm not 'worried' about welfare and I know the welfare lifestyle isn't great. But, I think it would be only fair that if you're going to 'take,' you contribute to society, if even a little.
I can tell who was raised how around here.
