One benefit to the new Comcast building that I noted above was the improved pedestrian experience along that block. It makes all the difference.
Walking along the Pkwy, north side, is a lot better than it used to be. The Barnes and Rodin, plus the maturing trees have helped a lot. There are green bikes and improved ped crossings too. Night time drone footage makes it all look pretty good.
Much better than at eye level,

When Love Park is finally done...putting the Xmas Village there was a mistake...Eh... it should add some much needed change in the immediate vicinity.

I agree with you pretty much though but what I would really like to see is a massive upgrade between the Penn Center Bldgs at 15th and Market/JFK. That area is screaming for attention.

I imagine the Parkway with the two parallel side streets being shut to through traffic, having a trolley bus running down it to service the parkway, and bike lanes. The traffic that could be open on those parallel streets should be deliveries only. But imagine how nice it would be without so many fast-moving vehicles, quality transit service between City Hall and the museum, and a renewed demand for places for people.

Totally agree with you on the Xmas Village in the incomplete Love Park. We stopped in on Saturday because we were connecting from the L to the Subway at City Hall and thought it would be interesting to see it. What a terrible mess. We promptly fled from that s***storm.

The bike lanes are on the outer drives. No trucks at all are allowed on the Pkwy. The Flash shuttle service and the Septa Rt 38 already runs on the Pkwy outer drives. All the sidewalks were replaced when the Barnes was built.

I'm pretty sure the Flash runs all year round. So do you mean more service? There are oodles of events on the western end of the Pkwy at the Art Museum. Just about every weekend especially during the summer and early fall. So there are usually people besides the Rocky tourists.

The "places for more people" are adjacent to the Pkwy along Callowhill/Pennsylvania Ave/Hamilton St. Restaurants between 19th and 20th. Target in the old Whole Foods space and the new Whole Foods between 21st and 22nd. All of those are busy.

Dilworth Park winterfest by contrast is even better than it was last year, imo. Love Park is a contruction site... it was dumb to put the booths there.

It's so far off-topic, I created a new thread. I'd be happy to discuss more here:

Yeah, I was post #2, and I stand corrected (shows you how often I get into CC - the last time I was there the framing for the spire/antenna piece wasn't in place). (Somewhat) interestingly: yesterday I drove across the Ben Franklin. Coming into the city, you can hardly see Comcast 2, even in all its topped-out glory. Literally, a matter of perspective.

The opposite view is from 76. Because Comcast 2 is situated at the end of the tallest buildings in the city, it towers over 76 and is hard to see from the BFB.

Well, when your football team hasn't won a championship in 57 years, you have to blame it on something.

I guess while we are at it, it's been 42 years for the Flyers, 34 years for the Sixers, but the Phillies certainly helped out since their drought is only 9 years. And what happened the year before the Phillies won the WS in 2008? - a little William Penn had been mounted on top of Comcast Center. Superstitious yet?

It usually means that the football team ran into a better team if the eagles don't win it all.
