Hi
Im considering a membership at Lifetime at Fort Washington. It looks nice and I like what I see so far. However a lot of yelp reviews mention the terrible experience of cancelling memberships. Just want to see if anyone had a similar experience? Or recommend a gym with pool?

I can think of 3 good gym places with pools (Philly, 2 in delco), but all of them are expensive and too far from Fort Washington. How far are you willing to travel for a good pool, and is there a spending limit you have per se?

Do not know anything about Lifetime Fitness. In fact never heard of it but there is an LA Fitness in Fort Washington. Not a bad place with a pool.

Over 5 years ago when I lived in a different State I almost signed up for membership but I felt like the associate was overbearing. I then looked up the online reviews and I was put off by horror stories. Back then I read that the associates get their pay docked for loss of paying customers and hence the difficulty in cancelling the memberships. I figured that they rather the business gets a negative review than have money taken out from their pay.

The gyms are OK but just keep this in mind. Personally, I don't subscribe to businesses that don't treat their employees well.

There is a really nice and modern YMCA in Ambler not far from Lansdale. Been there a few times and was very impressed and really nice clientele.

Lifetime gyms have incredible facilities (kind of like Equinox in New York). If you plan to keep the membership for a while and don't mind the price, I would join.

Just being up front and a tad difficult when talking to associates about membership policies

Also, most gyms are very annoying about cancelling memberships, only the Y is easy.

Philly has the Bellevue.
Prices are probably like 110-150+.

Delco has Rocky Run YMCA (Nether Providence I think ) and Healthplex (Springfield).

The Sporting Club is actually pretty lacking for being in the premium price range. The lack of competition for full-service, upscale gyms is obvious in their quality. I went a few times and wasn't impressed at all, and even more disappointed considering the price.

Why the hell can't we get an Equinox?!?!

Yea, its not that great. Lifetime is a lot nicer and way bigger.

And they're coming! A reputable source from Equinox said that Philadelphia is in their expansion plan.

1-3 locations in the Philadelphia area in early stages on planning is the last I heard from them.
