I cannot say that for everyone, but there obviously is a reason Steak48 implemented the policy....

People were showing up and not ordering food. Even though they were giving the perception with flashy clothes and cars like they had lots of money.

Only two of Steak 48 locations have this minimum policy... Houston and Philadelphia.

Just because someone drives a Mercedes... does not mean they have money. Although many like to perceive as they do.. I guess that is my point.
I've heard Atlanta referred to as the "City of $40,000 millionaires."

The city is pushing up ending Covid capacity restrictions from June 11th to June 2nd. But it makes absolutely no sense, why the city does not follow the state, which is lifting restrictions May 31st.

The city, though is not lifting the 11 PM curfew for restaurants and bars.

Which is maddening, considering the rest of Pennsylvania has allowed up 2 AM service at restaurants and bars for I believe almost 4 weeks now.

It is literally killing the restaurant industry in Philadelphia. If you have no indoor dining restrictions, how is closing at 11 PM verses 2 AM going to make a difference?? It is honestly just maddening and no one offers an explanation. Where the rest of Pennsylvania will have zero restrictions.
Kenney and his band of simpletons like having that power and control.

Some people get into politics for that sort of thing. Most probably do.

Really, Maddy? Wawa pretzels are inedible. And no Mart Pretzels?

Pffft ... weak.

Wawa pretzels are actually a guilty pleasure of mine. There’s something about that too-chewy shell, overly doughy center, and gratuitous use of sweetener that I occasionally enjoy. But, I don’t categorize it among true Philly soft pretzels, and it certainly doesn’t belong on a best pretzel list.

A Taste of Philly in Keswick Village is pretty good.

I can relate.

I love a Big Mac every once in a while.

Off-topic, but if you’re ever out toward Pittsburgh, you should check out the Big Mac Museum, which is part of a regular old McDonald’s on Route 30 in North Huntingdon. It’s a kitschy fun little spot, and there’s no better place to savor the iconic sandwich.

Speaking of burgers in our area, Old School Burgers (with locations in Ambler and Willow Grove) makes good retro drive-in type burgers and fries, with some creative and modern twists in terms of topping selection.

I had a pretty good bacon cheeseburger and excellent milkshake at the Fishtown Nifty Fifty's today ... all was well except they tried to charge me $2.79 for a cup of water.

There oughta be a law!

Oh, they heard about it on Yelp already (waves to dirty).

Will they try to sell me a cup of water for $2.79?

I don't mind a strict dress code, but I'm not going anywhere that requires me to spend a minimum $100 per person. And I'm willing to pay a lot for a great meal. It just seems arbitrarily expensive. But discriminatory? Come on.
Playing catchup, but I agree. I have NO IDEA why some people are worked up over this. It appears to have blown over though. "Discriminatory" and "racist" are thrown around way too much nowadays.

There are TONS of other excellent restaurants all over CC that do not have minimums, go there and be happy, lol. I did look at the menu though and spending $100 is not that hard and kind of to be expected at a place like that.

The Chicago Steak 48 has the same policy and not much "uproar" there, why in Philadelphia?

Steak 48 is also a joke. The food is average for the price point. And its mostly just a "hip" new place to be seen. The restaurant itself is below average.... it kind of took over from Capital Grille as the place to be "seen" on Broad St.

Its a bunch of fake money people going in with their Mercedes and BMWs, getting valet, acting like they are millionaires and then order one app and a glass of wine and tip 10% and then leave like they ballin. So dumb. LOL Fakemoney people drive me nuts.
He is a joke. That child screams about others prejudices and now agrees with a policy that excludes people. The idiot was there on opening night. I'm sure if they ever made him wait for a table, he would cry racism, that is the type of person he is.

But, I don't agree with the new money thing. Sure it is around, but a lot of normal or actual affluent people may dine there. I would say Ernest Owens is a new money type (without the money), but that type thankfully doesn't exist much in Philadelphia. People here either have money or they don't, lol.
