Everyone don't forget that she spent her summers at the Jersey Shore, SOUTH of Atlantic City.
It doesn't get more Philly than that.

I'd cast my vote for Benjamin Franklin...

At age nine she started taking vocal and acting lessons in New York City and then she became inspired by Shania Twain and turned towards country music. There's nothing that indicates she was inspired by anything 'Philly. '

The only thing Philadelphia and Berks County have in common are the hardcore ghettos of Reading.

She's a singer. Of course she was going to have people who inspired her to make music. Not sure how that takes away from her growing up in the Philly area?

I could understand if she had grown up in Cherry Hill, attended college in Philly, regularly visited family in south Philly, went to Eagles/Phillies games, and hung out with friends in CC, but that's not the case. She grew up in TN... Her sole affiliation with Philly comes from an arbitrary MSA boundary making her from the area.

I'm not sure why you're trying to force Taylor into being some type of Philly icon.

It goes by county, so all of Berks is included.

Like it or not, when you google search the Philadelphia MSA, or the Delaware Valley, a nice large image of a map pops up with Reading being the northwestern-most city labeled on it.

I mean Acme and Channel 6 only exist in our region. Wawa and Rita's have grown beyond.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Kobe Bryant. What a loss...

You can get Channel 6 all the way up in the Poconos and that's way out from the MSA or CSA.

Honestly, IMO the MSA needs to be updated; it excludes Trenton which has an actual line connecting to the city but includes Cecilton MD, which has Royal Farms, Food Lion and receives Baltimore news stations.

As mentioned earlier, this isn't an affront, its a matter of convenience. Its just easier to say you are from the Philly "area" then to say "Reading" to someone who has no clue where that is. I've done the same thing when saying grew up the Philadelphia area when it was actually Allentown, plus I really don't want to hear someone make a bad Billie Joel joke (which are all of them).
