New driver, I need to practice parallel parking on my own without worrying about scratching cars or blocking traffic. Someone suggested driving schools have practice areas. Where are they ? Can I use them without taking a driving lesson.
West philly preferred.

Ha ha, very funny

Actually I need to be in around 21st and south street tomorrow to move some things in my rented car. Can I expect to find a reasonable non-crowded parking space there around 10 AM ?

Another option I'm considering is to go there at 630 AM and just park and sit in the car till 10

Do you have any empty plastic trash cans? That's how I started practicing, just put them out and try to not knock them over. Then move on to cars. I mostly went to residential neighborhoods and looked for a nice big space (and brought someone to stand outside and spot if need be, so you're less likely to damage another person's car).

Go toward West Philly. A couple of the side streets north of market and west of 40th have tons of practice space.

Go to a school in after school hours and take a couple of boxes or something to mark your spot and so you can feel if you bump them.
