My friend just moved to Philly, and she's trying to find a job and make some friends. Are there any places that you guys know of that have free concerts? Art and craft nights? or anything like that? I know how hard it is to move and try to make friends. (Moved from Philly to New York a year and a half ago and still trying to figure that out myself.)

Check the local paper and see what is in there, the Sunday or the Thursday edition papers is the ones that usually has the upcoming events concerts and that type of thing plus head to anyplace that interests her, ask your co-workers where to go to have fun and where there is free things to do, but usually this happens more in the warmer weather.
Good Luck

Philadelphia Weekly, published once a week and free in boxs on street corners may have somthing. As PAnative said, the city hosts a lot of free stuff but in the summer.

This is a bad time of year for that. In the summer there free concerts on the holidays. Your friend should also checkout the Manayunk Arts fest or Chestnut Hill Arts Fest.

Thanks guys! I'll tell her to check it out. Yeah the winter kinda sucks for getting out and meeting people. I told her to hit up some of the bars like the POPE and Nodding Head. Sometimes Tattooed Mom's has stuff going on too.
