Hi! I have friend who lives on 2-4 acres of land (can't really remember if it's 2 or 4) in Glen Mills. Anyway, she fires her shotgun all the time on her property and shoots squirrels. I am totally against that myself!! She even opens up her front door and fires away. Is that even legal in PA??? Aren't squirrels protected from senseless shootings?? I never knew you could fire guns out in the open unless you were on designated hunting grounds. It's not like she eats the meat (who would, totally disgusting!).

First of all plenty of people shoot and eat squirrels. As for her opening her front door and firing away, no that would not be legal if she is closer then 150 yards from a public road, an occupied building or school.

Second of all there is an opened and closed hunting season for squirrels and a daily bag limit. Shooting animals outside of there approved season is a crime as is exceeding the legal bag limit.

Now being she is the property owner there our different rules and laws for land owners BUT they still tend to be strict and are subject to approval.

Just because she owns the property doesn't entitle her to live like Annie Oakly. If what your describing is true, but in all honesty it sounds a bit exaggerated to me.

Here's a copy of the Pa game digest with all the laws and rules explained in detail. 2009 PA game digest

No, this is very true. She is from Arkansas and I don't think she's assimilated into the culture up here. I've seen it with my own eyes

She's dangerous, misinformed, and an idiot. I don't care where your from, blasting out the front of your door at anything is beyond the comprehension of any normal person. I Hope she gets caught before her dumb...actions hurt someone and give the ethical and responsible gun owners yet another black eye.

I hear what you're saying, but some people are telling me you can shoot on that amount of land. I know she doesn't have any neighbors nearby at all, she's very isolated. I just don't like the shooting of the squirrels. I would think you can't shoot anywhere unless you're on designated "hunting" territory.

People can legally hunt on private property. You don't have to be on state game land or the like.

I don't mean to come of as a jerk but this thread is getting pointless. I posted the link with the rules and regs for hunting in PA. Your friend is obviously not a very responsible person according to your description and the fact that YOU don't like her shooting squirrels is irrelevant. What matters is that she is doing it illegally and has poor judgment. If it's really bothering you call the PA game commission and ask for a game warden and report her for poaching.

You do realize that most here don't open or read the links. Sad.
