My boyfriend and I are moving from Albuquerque. My b-friend will be working in Perkasie. I can transfer to 1 of 3 cities: Plymouth Meeting, Huntingdon, or Allentown. We would like to find something that is of mutual distance for both of us. What city would have restaurants, bars and shopping for a couple of 20++ yr olds and is fairly safe to live in? Thanks for any advise!

My personal opinion.

I would live in Doylestown(great town) which is an easy commute to Perkasie(10 miles) and did you mean Huntington Valley(10 miles)? Plymouth Meeting is about 20 miles from Doylestown.Allentown is a pretty good hike about 30 miles from Perkasie.

Default Transfering to Perkasie

Allentown is only about 20 Miles to Perkasie. The area between Allentown and Perkasie is very rural. Depending on if you are the outdoors type you will find a lot to do. The prices get higher in certain areas around Allentown because a lot of the residents commute to NY and NJ.

I would go one of two ways. Since you are boyfriend and girlfriend I am going to assume you get to spend a lot of time together going out to restaurants and enjoying the finer things in life. If you transfer to Plymouth Meeting you will be more likely to take advantage of what Philadelphia has to offer more regularly. If you go north to Allentown you may still go to Philly just not as often. However NY comes into play. Allentown is 90 miles to NYC and about 65 to Philly.

For the Plymouth Meeting transfer I would look at Harleysville, North Wales, Lansdale, Skippack, Chalfont, New Britain, Blue Bell

For the Allentown Transfer I would look at Quakertown, Red Hill, Green Lane, Coopersburg, Anything in and around Lake Nockamixon and even Lansdale, North Wales, Harleysville. The North East Extension is about 30 minutes to Allentown from these areas and you will be commuting in the opposite direction so travel times should be favorable.

Its a fairly pleasant drive but as I susupected it is closer to 30 miles from Perkasie to Allentown. That being said I've spent some time in Albuquerque and 30 miles is a trip around the block comparitively speaking.

Rainrock

I had to check the mileage. My GPS 23.4 miles, Google Maps 20.1 miles, Mapquest(your source) 29.12. Maybe my faulty GPS and Google Maps is why I am always running late.
All the technology in the world and the different results amazes me.

All the best.

That's from the center of Allentown to the center of Perkasie. A trip from northern Perkasie to Southern Allentown is a different thing.
