Temecula is not as hot as Gilbert. Personaly, I don`t like Gilbert/ phoenix and I don`t like Tem/ Murrieta. But if I had to choose, it would be Temecula.Temecula`s surrounding are much nicer and the weather is better. Wether it would be a good move for them depends on what they are looking for in a city, weather and population.

Gilbert and Temecula were stamped by the same cookie cutter community creator. There is little to do in Gilbert but shop, eat at chain restaurants, or tour model homes. It's too crowded (wherever you might want to go) and too hot most of the year to leave the neighborhood for anything more entertaining. There are no earthquakes in Gilbert though.

Gilbert has occasional streaks of 100-108 degree days then broken up by a 98 or 97 degree day. Only during the summer. Night time lows drop into the high 80s. After a monsoon storm they can be in the 70s or high 60s at night.

Neither city would be considered high desert at there elevation.

Motor is right, these cities are not considered "desert citie" like Lancaster area or Palm Springs/Indio, but path is right the big difference to PHX weather is they cool off more at night, even with 100+ daytime temps. Some of that is because they are actually close enough to get the ocean influences (west winds) late in the afternoon which begins the cool down for them even before the sun goes down.

Of course the big exception to this is during late fall with the Santa Ana Winds. Then all bets are off as to when its hot and when it cools down. But those are only for a few days at a time sandwhiched in between the actual beginning of fall cold fronts that come through.
