I have discovered Cosmo Park in Chandler and my dog LOVES the swimming area. However, I went there yesterday and the lake is closed until Sept 1......ugh! Does anyone know of another place or dog park I can take my dog to swim?

I am not aware of any other ones. I've never been to Cosmo but I want to take my lab. How's the water? I just imagine a crap-filled wasteland.

Do they have to wear Huggies Little Swimmies diapers?

Cosmo is an awesome dog park. It ranked 4th in the US for dog parks (by people not dogs, so who knows?). I think it is in Gilbert though and not Chandler. At any rate it is a vestige of the days when cities had money to spend on luxuries like parks for dogs. May those days return!

Default Doggie water parks?

Huh, I've been out here since 2000 and never heard of it! Totally figures that they would close it until September though. I mean why would anyone want their dog to have access to swimming in the summer lol? We take our dog to Friendship Park in Avondale, it's cute enough

There's a dog park in Goodyear just north of the river on Estrella. It's not as nice as Cosmo. Just two fenced grassy areas, one for nice dogs and one for mean ones, LOL, and some tables etc for the two-legged visitors.

Dogs love water for sure, but doggie swimming pools? That's incredible. Complete with lifeguards, I'll bet!

So is the pond/pool thing clean? Or will my dog smell like sewage after a dip?

I've only been there one time. The water looked a little "murky" but not bad. What dog smells good after a dip anyway? The OP said it was closed till Sep but not why. Maybe it got really polluted from runoff, algae growth or something.

You could take your dog to the Gila river near PIR. That is treated effluent but it is a favorite swimming hole of the illegals who seem to tolerate it. There is also water in the Gila around Jackrabbit Rd. My dogs swim (wade) in the lakes in Estrella. One dog goes in the pool quite often summer and winter.

EDIT: Just checked and water source for the pond is city water and it is designed to keep runoff out.

The lake at Cosmo is very nice and clean. In fact the reason it is currently clsoed is because they do scheduled cleaning every couple of months. It is overall a huge park. The lake has a dock for dock jumping which is nice too.
But if you are worried about your fluffy puppy getting dirty maybe you should keep him/her away from the dog park anyway.
