I got some recently at Sunflower Farmers Market, although I can't say for sure it's something they have every day. I'm in Tucson, but you have three Sunflowers in the Phoenix metro. Sunflower Farmers Market ~ Marana Locations ~ Your Local Grocery Store (http://www.sfmarkets.com/locations/arizona - broken link)

It's a chain run by some of the people who worked at Wild Oats before that was sucked up by Whole Foods. WAY better prices than WF. It's a nice place -- great produce, especially. They have weekly specials that you can access from their Website. Try it if you've never been.

You'll likely not find local heirlooms this time of year. It's too hot for them to grow. I have 17 plants of many varieties in my yard and they are all fried! Tomatoes pretty much stop flowering once it hits the 100s here. That said, you might be able to find out of state fare in stores. The flip side is that we can grow stuff in the fall and I was picking a spring crop in Feb/March, months before most of the country was planting.

I live on the AZ border in NM and am growing many varieties of organic heirlooms. They will be ready to eat in three or four weeks. I'm currently looking for places to sell them in Phoenix

I just saw some heirloom tomatoes at Albertson's on the corner of Scottsdale Rd and Thomas in Scottsdale.
