My doctor's office is located at 32nd St, just off of Osborn and I decided to take a different route home and this whole neighborhood has chickens running around loose! There must be at least I'd say 50!
I even saw 3 peacocks just walking around the street as well and about a dozen or so of some large bird breed.
I've seen people have 1 or 2 chickens before in their yard in an urban area such as this and I know someone with 2 peacocks in their front yard in Central Phoenix as well....but I've never seen an entire neighborhood infested with dozens of birds in such an urban area.

Does anyone what the deal is?
Are all of these chickens just from one house and they let them run around or do all of these neighbors just happen to have a strong passion for chickens?

It might help if you told us exactly where the neighborhood is, as your post doesn't make that clear.

LOL! Why do you use the word "infested?" That just tickles my funnybone! I've seen other posts on this board about pockets of Phoenix that have chickens and peafowl. But I've never read anything about an infestation of them.

I think I've seen what you're talking about. Was this a street with some colorful old sided homes with dirt for lawns? I remember seeing the Chickens in the front yard and two Peacocks standing on the sidewalk near the street. I actually thought it was cute when I saw it, but I forgot how to get back there to show my friend. And yeah, I was confused because it was in a very urban part of Phoenix on a side street.

Sorry, for some reason it just struck me as hilarious. Now I'm curious and will have to swing by to see for myself!

There's a park somewhere in either east Glendale or west Phoenix that has chickens running around. It might be Sahuaro Ranch Park, but I'm not sure. I haven't been there in probably 10 years. I just remember having a "picnic" lunch of KFC, and chickens roaming around... and, well, one thing led to another, and some chickens began to snack on some 11 herbs and spices....
