Not sure I would agree it's the best, but it is pretty decent for a large city airport. It was ranked best by The Daily Beast.

I would agree with them. Of all the airports I've been to, PHX seemed the best. Very short wait times.

We need a better way of getting between terminals than going outside and waiting for a bus then having to go back through security again.

I don't mind driving around the airport area, my son comes to visit me occaisionally or I take a few days and go to Calif to see my family about once a year. My ex husband works for an airline so its not as expensive as it would be otherwise.
There are some airports I dread but overall the one in Phoenix is reasonably easy to get into and out of.

Isn't that what the skytrain is for?

I have always loved the Phoenix airport. It has always been the most convenient I have ever been to. I go back all the way to 1971 when you could park right in front of the terminal and walk a few feet and be at the check in counter.

I actually was sitting at my computer once in Tempe back about 1982 and wasn't watching the time. When I did, I only had 15 minutes before my flight left. I actually made it to the airport, parked, and made it to the gate for takeoff. Hard to beat that convenience. You could just about leave your home in Phoenix area and be sitting at a poker table in Vegas in an hour and a half back then. I used to do it every weekend.

That's because the TSA didn't exist
