I am part of a group of ambitious / crazy people called by God to plant a Church in Phoenix... not your "normal" church... A Church set out to ROCK a city with the gospel... radical to say the least...

We are praying over Phoenix now... give us the lowdown... What is the "hottest" area of Phoenix to launch in? What area needs a Radical Church ready to reach people with the truth of Jesus?

Keep praying. Phoenix is not the most fertile ground in which to plant a church. Other than that, I don't suppose one place or the other is better. What demographic would you be hoping/expecting to attract?

That's the excitement to us. No doubt the Lord called us to Phoenix for that reason...

Our target is young professionals... 24-32... but are obviously not limited to that. We are prayed up and prepared. Our team has been mentored and prepared to reach people far from God... we are coming to make an impact and love Phoenix.

We are looking for a very dense, creative, professional area with a good culture in Phoenix. We are coming to visit in May and want to check out several areas.

Let us know what you think and join us in prayer! Moderator cut: no links/recommendations from new members

>not your "normal" church...
there are plenty of abnormal churches here already.
is there something wrong with "normal"?
Personally I think we need fewer churches and more real christians who don't go around making a big fuss.

Hmm... let's see, what area could use a "not normal" church?... perhaps accross the street from ASU in Tempe? or maybe Maryvale? Scottsdale is abnormal in its own snobby way, but I have a feeling that's not the kind of abnormality you're huntin' for. You could start a church in Tucson right next to Safeway... but you might have to bullet proof it... but hey, that would make it stand out even more.
ok, I apologize for my sarcasm... i just couldn't resist

People will drive several miles to attend a church that is the right fit for them. So, I don't think it matters much where you put it, so long as you don't go into the extreme edges of the metro area. Plenty of vacant large storefronts to move into.

@greendesert, agree with you. Lets go with "more contemporary" rather than "abnormal"... I get what you are saying... that's the goal.. isn't it? Commitment to Christ rather than just a title of "Christian?"

We are looking at Gilbert, and Tempe. What you think between those two? Love the idea of Tuscon next to safeway? Might as well go for the chainlink fence with barb wire on the top and 14 year olds with machine guns... we do alot of work in Africa and can bring a new culture to Church security!

Appreciate the reply...

Thanks Observer53...

We are looking at Gilbert and Tempe... which do you think has a more current vibe and more young professionals?

We are visiting in May, any other places to check?

I would not choose Gilbert. Tempe would make more sense of those two, but I would not limit myself that much.

Well, I do know that the Northwest part of phoenix has CCV, and that's pretty contemporary, and it's a huge megachurch. There are lots of smaller contemporary churches as well. I don't know about Tempe/Gilbert/Chandler.

You guys are great... and we appreciate it. Any other suggestions are welcome too. Definitely looking to reach new people. Is Tempe more than just a college town?
