They're saying that Air Traffic Control at Sky Harbor asked the flight crew on an approaching Delta Airlines jet, that was only about 50 feet off the ground and ready to land, they asked them to abort the landing and go around. Can you imagine the reaction of passengers on that flight when the captain or first officer says "Ladies and gentlemen, we have to abort the landing because of a dog on the runway".

My only guess was he escaped from a kennel boarding a plane. Sounds logical to me.

I am a flight attendant and we were on the ground boarding the plane and I looked out the window and saw a black lab running around the tarmac and a bunch of baggage handlers trying to catch it. apparently it had gotten out of its kennel. That is probably what happened to this dog as well.

So they couldn't land because Rosie O'Donnell was on the runway?!
()

I wonder if Bummer will send me to my room for that one!

LOL @ Bummer...

Also, Valley Native, you won't have to worry Bummer telling you to go to your room, I would only hope Rosie is not reading these forums!

Contrary to what some people here mentioned, the dog might have been a stray one that somehow wandered into the restricted area at Sky Harbor. I haven't heard exactly why he was on there and I'm sure by now baggage handlers would have mentioned something if he was in a kennel being loaded on an aircraft.

Is the airport fenced off well along the perimeter?
