This is what your county taxes is paying for! I’m angry that this type of local law enforcement continues, to say nothing about the near $100 million dollar screw up in department. Isn’t anyone in charge in Maricopa County anymore?

MCSO speaks out about ignored sex crimes

It appears that Sheriff Joe isn’t running the MCSO as effectively as citizens would like. He has a number of high ranking deputies who have made more news about corruption, possible fraud and simple failure to do their job in the past several months than most law enforcement agencies would be allowed to get away with. However “the buck stops here Joe” seems to be asleep at the switch.

This is the latest news of incompetence when officers fail to investigate sex crimes in the county and worse the little town of El Mirage that could have had closure and arrests being made in most cases. Several of the sex crimes involved minors and could have easily resulted in an arrest of the perpetrator with the overwhelming evidence that was provided to the MCSO.

Who is protecting Maricopa County and several of the communities that depend on their services? Why are their no arrests and removal of the deputies involved (in not just this story link) but the many other issues of the department.

That was so sad! I feel so bad for the victims of those crimes. Makes you wonder doesn't it? How on earth could so many of those cases be ignored. What a shame. I hope it gets cleaned up down there and soon.

OP:

It appears that Sheriff Joe isn’t running the MCSO as effectively as citizens would like.

Mismanaged millions, mistreated prisoners costing millions, failed to get people to court on time, failed to supervise his staff, failed to investigate crimes, initiated political witch hunts leading to millions in law suits. But he harassed illegals and we love him for that. That's all that matters in Arizona. It appears that he is running it exactly as citizens like.

And this is why his career should be over in the next election.

I don't understand why it needs to wait for another election? He should be resigning or recalled! There is TOO much tax dollars that are wasted on him and his poor operation of maintaining the law. This is costing the taxpayers far too much keeping him around!

That will have to be decided by ALL of the voters based on the sum total of Sheriff Joe's accomplishments and not so accomplishments. Not by people who pick and choose what they want him to accomplish! Democracy at work! Can't please everybody all the time! In saying that, I do admit that more should have been done!
