I've been thinking of moving to mesa. Was there on vacation twice but it was 8 years ago last i was there. I know things change. But the housing is still low priced and i like the idea of living on the east side. Plus I need a place where I can rent a 2 bedroom. Any advice? How's Mesa these days?

It depends on what part of Mesa you are talking about, some are better than others. The northeast part is generally best. And, there's lots of other nice citiies in the southeast Valley that you could consider, if what you want is living on the "east side". What you will find depends on your budget, house vs. apt., etc.

I know that until a year ago my daughter's family lived almost all the way out to the county line.
There were lots of foreclosures in the housing tracts out there and lots of small business closures in the area with the economy.
