It's also not fun when everyone disagrees with you. I'm not in favor of any city that leans too far in one direction.

I agree with you 100%. Austin is fake liberal. People in Texas think Austin is liberal because compared to Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, it's liberal but it's definitely no more liberal feeling than Phoenix and definitely not as liberal as California and the West Coast. I feel Phoenix is more liberal than Austin despite the news headlines. Mormons are not Southern Baptists. They might be conservative but I've never experienced Mormons pushing their faith in your face and asking what church you go to.

Agreed Central Phoenix is pretty liberal but there are pockets in the Valley that also have that feel. Ocotillo in Chandler also feels pretty liberal. Old Town and DC Ranch in Scottsdale also have a liberal vibe.

(building two at the same time in the same metro area makes them a lot less rare, too)
They are building it in that location due to space. It's still being built to attract people in Gilbert.

This is hyperbole. While many state leaders might be Mormon, at the local level, it varies.

Agreed, Phoenix unfairly gets overlooked. People assume you have to live in one of the suburbs and that Phoenix is not good enough. I love Arcadia. I really love the development in central Phoenix in general. My favorite restaurants are in this area not Scottsdale.

Yup. And, for people who moved here years ago, the changes have been astonishing to watch. I originally came from a "moderate" area, though the state as a whole was blue. But, the politics of a place affect every day life in many ways....

This thread is about Gilbert, specifically, not Arizona in general. Please steer the conversation back on topic. Thanks.
