Husband put new tires on before leaving Bay Area Thursday. Today they had a blowout! They are driving on the spare and have to go to Gilbert from Glendale tomorrow - they have been driving around looking for anyplace for a new tire. Anybody know where they could go on Monday - the Holiday? I'm thinking the AAA guy should have had some guidance for them....but I'm here and they are there! Anybody?

I don't think any tire places will be open tomorrow...maybe a Walmart with a tire center? That department may be closed though since it's a holiday.

There really shouldn't be a problem driving on the spare though. Aside from the fact that you aren't supposed to drive past 55 MPH it's fine. Gilbert to Glendale is around 40-50 miles, it's far but not that bad and you could take surface streets if you want.

I use Discount Tire any time I have tire issues. I checked on their website and they are closed on 4th of July, but are opening again at 8 on Tuesday. There should be one by you

I second discount tire. The first time I went there (when we just moved here)I had a flat and needed a new set of tires because the fronts were bald. They patched my flat for free/balanced/rotated my tires because I couldn't afford a new set. Went back a few months later and bought from them.

Another vote for use the donut today and go to Discount Tire tomorrow. Excellent customer service and good prices. Plus, as someone else said, they're everywhere.

You couldn't get help from AAA? They might just change flats and not replace the tire.

I would just make the drive from Glendale to Gilbert and head over to Discount Tire in the morning. Take it easy on the freeway and drive in the slow lane.

Best of to you and hope the journey goes as well as it can.

I agree with the others on here, Mormad . . . wait until the local Discount Tire Shop opens tomorrow.

Go easy on the "donut" or postpone your trip for the sake of safety.

Any emergency holiday tire purchase will probably be super expensive and possibly of lesser quality and/or old. Any or all of which could be dangerous.

Definitely NOT WORTH THE RISK.

Just to keep interested parties informed......Discount Tires today honored the

warranty. ( I didn't realize American Tires here in Bay Area was Discount Tires in PHX) So all is well. They did make it to Gilbert and back on the 4th - even had a little detour to an Indian Casino... Guess I was more worried here in Half Moon Bay than they were. Thanks for the tips!
