We are new to the Phoenix area and have family coming to visit in a few weeks. Can anyone recommend a fun/good restaurant to go to in the East Valley area?

We are a family with 2 kids (8 and 9) and the other family has a 3 and 6 year old.

Looking for something other than Peter Piper Pizza as I'm sure we will have to make at least one trip here but would like somewhere else to take them too as well.

Thanks so much!

Organ Stop Pizza is a pretty fun place. It's in Mesa and kind of tucked back in a parking lot, but it's worth it. Largest organ in the world is there; the guy plays many songs and people are welcome to get up and dance.

Never been to the one here in Phoenix but Rainforest Cafe is neat if you have never experienced it. Not worth going more than once but neat the first time you see it. It's in Arizona Mills Mall.

how about the long-established Mining Camp?....very casual Western-style joint.....

Mining Camp Restaurant

don't go to the Dutchman's Hideout part, but go to the old family-style section (family-style service)......if you want to combine it with a drive up or down the Apache Trail, Tortilla Flat, and a visit to Lost Dutchman State Park, that would make it better for the family......great scenery there next to the legendary Superstition Mountains.....

shoot, just checked...they won't reopen for the winter until Nov. 1

If you want food AND entertainment, Amazing Jakes might be a good choice. Kids eat free on Sunday's at Arriba Mexican Grill. It's a colorful, casual place to go. For lunch, Macaroni Grill might be fun - you can color on the table cloth. Chick-Fil-A at San Tan Marketplace has a nice indoor play area for kids - a welcome change from McDonalds. Since you said your friends will be coming in a few weeks, another idea would be Joe's BBQ in downtown Gilbert. They have great food (no alcohol) and, if the weather is nice, they have a grassy area and picnic tables, so you can eat outside and the kids can romp around.

I always take visitors to Rustlers Rooste. It's a Phoenix tradition really. Try the rattlesnake.
