We use our cellphones less than 200 minutes a month, usually way less. At this time, we do not use them for texting or internet.

We have had Verizon for years, and been pretty happy with them. No contract at this time, and the older phones that we have work perfectly well.

But the lowest plan that Veizon offers is 550 shared minutes per month, for $60-70/month. So we are looking at alternatives with NO CONTRACTS. Consumer Cellular uses AT&T towers and has smaller plans. Anyone have any experience with this company?

Check out T-mobile prepaid pay-as-you-go:
Prepaid - Pay As You Go Prepaid Plans | Prepaid Data Plans | T-Mobile

$0.10/min so for 200 minutes/month usage you are looking at $20/month.

I also does not text/internet on my phone, so with this plan I bought a cheapie Nokia phone for $20 from Best Buy. My first $100 prepaid lasted me 10 months, which is much cheaper than a cellphone with contract.

I reckon this should work in Phoenix as well.

I and my wife do. No reception problems. We are not big at texting either. Very affordable for 2 phones with different numbers.
