Perfect Winter weather.
Low taxes.
Good jobs.
Many lakes in the area.
Lower cost of living.
Better streets than most cities.
Great lifestyle.
No earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, tornados.
I already refuted most of this and provided proof above but Ill comment again:

Perfect Winter weather.

No perfect winter weather is Snow and Fall and seasons...what do you call AZ summers? Id rather be in a place with perfect summers.

Low taxes.

As opposed to what ZERO in Nevada..same climate...better attractions...or RI or FL....lol come on.

Good jobs.

Errr what? as opposed again to where... there are good jobs everywhere its not state dependant.

Many lakes in the area.

Less than any other state...check it out.

Lower cost of living.

WRONG Az ranked 34th out of 50...thats not low. Proof: Cost of Living 1st Quarter 2007

Better streets than most cities.

See above...

Great lifestyle.

Ahhh for what? retired blue collar workers to live in trailer parks, visit the casinos and play bingo? Are you delusional?

No earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, tornados...

Umm so we don't have brush fires? Ill take a tornado over deadly heat any day.

Well stated and completely refuted...why not actually look at AZ state ranking in those areas and you will see you are dead wrong...

S. Scottsdale? Sorry but that's not what I consider a safe area. Don't believe me? Look up the crime stats yourself. Go ahead, do it. And Channel 3 named S. Scottsdale the #1 "rape zone" in the state of Arizona. I had several friends who lived down there and moved out after their cars were broken into, homes burglarized, one girl had her car vandalized, etc etc etc etc etc. Driving around there you either see the club people with their hookers and drug dealers or you see illegals.

You can keep S. Scottsdale, it isn't even worth the $250k price you named.
Bottom line; if you are that uncomfortable with Arizona, then you need to live where you are at peace-------life is too short.

Any time I drive into California; my skin 'crawls' so needless to say, I avoid that state like the Plague.

Sad because at one time I really loved that place.

I find it amusing that Arizonans hate California by default.

I hate when people generalize Arizona or California. Each state has beautiful wonderful areas and each state has cesspools.

I happen to think the Phoenix area went from a nice clean small western city in the 1990s to a cesspool today, featuring the worst of LA and SD and Vegas all mixed up in a big dusty bowl.

I happen to love parts of LA and hate other parts. Same thing. I like part of OC and dislike other. Same with SD.

Please stop generalizing and let's be specific and intelligent here. There are even parts of the Phoenix area I like but choose not to live there anymore because of the quality of life overall.

I personally do not hate Calif; the adjective disappointed comes to mind.

Unfortunately; you are onto something there.

I was 'generalizing' when I stated 'Los Angeles basin' vs. SoCal as a whole. My bad

If my comments are not to your satisfaction; I do not what to tell you

Default Californians do not hate Arizonans

Just want everyone here to know that Californians do not hate Arizonans.
I mean, its just not a topic here at all.

Actually, Californians generally admire Arizonans for being able to deal with the heat/desert and love Sheriff Joe (he was interviewed by the LA Times re Paris Hilton, did you read it? - awesome!); however, LA (and most of S. CA) has been hit with a heat wave and brown-outs this past week which has a lot of people angry at Arnold and S.Cal.Edison for shorting us.

Many from Cali moved to AZ over the past decade for financial reasons. I just want all Californians (who wish they were here in CA) to know that we all miss you and want you back. You know what? A recruiter (Santa Monican!) actually stated that "we need the middle-class to come back." Whoa!!!

Traffic in LA is pretty calm now (imo) and probably will get better as the undocumented leave. Its still crazy over on the 10 through the Coachella Valley, but it gets better once you're on the 210 and even on the 91 to the 55 all the way to NB.

The only complaint I have re AZ is that the slow drivers in the left lane (on a 2-lane hwy) need to move over (especially if a semi tractor trailer is coming at a faster speed down the road) and not get into or cause an accident. There is no sense in trying to teach anyone a driving "lesson." Let that be the job of the Highway Patrol.

Yeah Cali-girl I never got any hate from people in CA driving around with Arizona plates but in Arizona, everyone is so nasty to Californians and I hear the cops even target them unfairly.

You're right about traffic in So Cal not being so bad, at least not living up to it's legend, I think Phoenix is actually now worse, though everyone in Phoenix will deny that and insist that LA is worse even though most have never driven there at all.

CA drivers are much more courteous, while driving through LA on the 405 in traffic I noticed that when I signaled, people actually moved out of the way to let me in, while in Arizona they speed up and try to block you from changing lanes. So sad that Arizona drivers are that mean and angry.

Thank you for your post; I always move out of the way of a faster driver and its common in CA for drivers to do so, so I'm not the only one. People just want to enjoy the beautiful scenery here - so its easy to just "let it go, and let them go by" as they say.

However, there are those who insist on NOT moving over: A couple of years ago, I witnessed (25 feet directly behind the vehicles) a horrible accident on the 101N of Santa Barbara all because the driver going 60 mph (!) in the fast lane refused to move over to the slow lane. The driver behind slow driver braked, lost control of his small p/u, flipped over and rolled into the path of an oncoming semi. Just awful to see.

So, to all out there: please signal and let faster drivers by. AZ has bad traffic in PHX/Scottsdale on the fwy: I was on my way to Scottsdale (can't recall the fwy number but it was off of the 70) and there are like 5/6 lanes in each direction and still traffic was backed up for miles, so I was shocked.

I just don't know what to say about the hating. Except I'm sorry that it exists.

I just had to laugh at this sentence from you. Why do you think us, St. Louisians were glad when they left our city? You got them now and most of of us were happy to see them go. But, don't even think of touching our baseball team. The baseball Cardinals have the very best fans in the country.

I am sorry but I had to laugh at this one here. What in the heck makes you think that any illegals will leave the state of California since the whole state is known as a sanctuary state? LA especially seems to love them so I would be interested in hearing why you think any illegal will be leaving LA on their own. Please enlighten us if you would.

I was out to LA back in 2003 on a small vacation and had no trouble driving in the area or getting around. I realize it was a long time ago but even then so many were telling us to not drive out there.
