Have you guys driven by Chandler Regional Hospital? There are 6 or 7 Internal Medicine doctors near that hospital alone. Are you sure all of them are full and/or don't accept Medicare?

You can go to www.azmd.gov and do a search and they will provide a list of all the doctors in your area. You can call them and ask if they are accepting new patients and medicare.

I do it in reverse. I look them up on my provider list, given to me by my insurance. They must be in the network, or there is no chance I can use them.
After that, I look at ratemds.com and see what their rating is, from other people who have used them.
After that I pick a couple and start calling to see if they really are taking people with my insurance or not.

That's my routine, as well. Fortunately, my doctor has been in my provider network even when I changed companies. And he's one of the doctors often mentioned in the Phoenix Magazine "best of" lists through the years.
