I'm currently living in Michigan and am having a house built in Watson Estates in Buckeye. I'll be moving around October/November. Anyone have any opinions/advice for this development or the area in general?

What information did you have about this area and this development before you bought the house?

I visited Watson Estates when it was first being developed a few years ago. There was lots of building going on until the housing market crash happened. Then the lots sat vacant for years. Now the lots are selling very quickly and the prices of the homes have gone up and from what I've been able to see are going to continue to rise (hopefully at a slower pace so there isn't another crash). Anyway, I like the fact that it's more of a "rural" area, but not so far out that you have to travel 10 miles or so just to get to a gas station or grocery store -- like Tartesso. I think Tartesso is a beautiful development, but it's just too far out in the absolute middle of nowhere. I don't know much about the demographics of Buckeye, but I assume it's a diverse area, which is fine with me. Driving through the development, it appears that everyone maintains their homes and yards - no trash or junk or motor homes. From my observation, the entire area from West Park going east to Sundance looked very well maintained and kept up, including the older sections of Sundance. I like the fact that the property taxes are so low too. Shea Homes is building my house, and from what I've researched about them, they are a reputible builder (no builder is perfect). I also like having a beautiful view of the White Tanks. My backyard is on a wash and has view fencing. However, the drop from my yard to the wash is about 8 to 10 feet, so I'm not too worried about things "crawling" up the wall and into my yard. It would be nice to know if during monsoon season how much water would go through the wash, or if water would be standing, or how high the water level could get. I don't have young children, so schools are not important to me, but I have heard that the schools in Buckeye are good -- maybe not the best, but not the worst either.

So that's what I know -- any comments/info/advice are greatly appreciated!

Buckeye in general is pretty rural. Not exactly everybody's cup of tea. You will be close to a shopping center with Wal-mart, grocery store, fast food etc. Did you scope out the area before purchasing?
