I am a married student who is moving to attend grad school at ASU (Tempe campus) in the fall. I am looking for an apartment to rent that is not filled with rowdy college students but is close to campus and in a family friendly area. I am willing to live in some of the surrounding areas if there is good public transit to get to school. Please give me any recommendations for apartments that fit what I'm looking for. Also I saw that ASU has some family housing and if anyone has any experience with that I would love to hear about it.

Can you rent a small house? I think any apt. on public transit to ASU is going to be mostly students, though they're not all rowdy partiers, just like you aren't.

I'm assuming there will be two of you? You might want a car. This city is spread out and the public transit is slim pickins.

ASU is a great school. Congrats!

There are smaller apartment buildings south of the campus that may not be quite so rowdy, and are on the neighborhood circulator buses. If you can find a small house, it would be better. You don't say what your spouse will be doing-- mass transit to a job gets a little more complicated, depending on where the job is.

There are apartments and condominiums along Washington Street on the Phoenix-Tempe border, mostly in Tempe.

They are close enough to ASU without being party central, and right on the light rail line so you wouldn't need to drive.

True. And, there's a lot along Rural Road and McClintock going south from campus, putting you on a main bus line on each of those streets, that then intersects with the light rail.
