Gilbert shooting leaves 5 people dead

Quote:
A gunman reportedly wearing body armor shot multiple victims in Gilbert, killing five people, authorities said.
This is at least the third mass-fatality shooting in Arizona since 2011, after the incidents last year near Tucson and in Yuma. Very sad.

In the Phoenix Metro area Gilbert and Mesa both have been having some issues with this type of problem. Things need to improve in that area.

There's to many nutters in this world. I wish they would just off themselves and be done with it.

I don't feel unsafe in the Valley and think this is one of the safer large metropolitan cities in the country. However, there does seem to be a lot of random shootings recently.

It's the same all over. We had an Opera Singer shot while driving down the I-205 last month. No reason unless someone didn't like Opera

I'm not sure what you mean by your comments. "This type of problem" = mass shooting? When has Gilbert had a mass shooting recently? Or Mesa, for that matter?

You make it sound like these things happen all the time in the east Valley. They don't.

There are random shootings in the Valley, but I'm not at all sure this one is "random". Come in with body armor, shoot several people, including a child, and then commit suicide? It doesn't sound like a random shooting, but it's certainly too soon to say.

Do you even live in the valley? I question this because Gilbert is known as one of the safer cities in the valley and has even been awarded the safest city in Arizona within the last couple years.

Mass shootings are definitely not the norm in Gilbert, Mesa or any valley city for that matter.

Overall, crime including violent crime in the Phoenix area as well as nationwide is way down and has been falling for 20-30 years. So it's much better now, without downplaying this type of senseless crime or any crime for that matter. And I feel sorry for any victim of crime.
